What is Child & adolescent psychotherapy?

Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists are highly skilled and rigorously trained mental health professionals dedicated to supporting the well-being of children, young people (0-25), and their families. We work collaboratively with our clients and, when appropriate, involve parents/carers, especially when dealing with serious mental health difficulties.

Child Psychotherapists engage in individual sessions with children and young people, as well as family sessions, fostering a holistic approach to mental health. Concurrently, working with parents/carers is an integral aspect of the child psychotherapy approach, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the therapeutic process.

Our specialization involves a comprehensive six-year training program, including a two-year pre-clinical course followed by a four-year full-time doctoral-level clinical training, generously funded by the NHS. This training equips our professionals with the expertise needed to address the unique challenges faced by children, young people, and their families.
